This week’s feature is Patrik Roggenbau! Read on to learn more about him!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am an artist, chef, equestrian, and owner and host of The Lilley Mansion a local Victorian B&B and event apace.

How long have you lived in the Village?
I moved here in May of 2020.
What brought you to live in the Village?
I fell in love with a beautiful neglected house from 1875. That led to the decision to restore it and turn it into a bed and breakfast.

What are your hobbies?
Hiking and swimming! I love the beautiful beaches in the area. Whenever there is an opportunity to get away for a couple of hours in my busy summer season, I hurry over to Hoffmaster State Park.

What are your favorite Village businesses and why?
It is so exciting to see the wide range of small businesses in our vibrant community here in Spring Lake. I particularly have a kinship with a group of entrepreneurs who made a leap of faith investing in a business around the same time The Lilley Mansion was given new life. All of us became close friends and support and count on each other’s help whenever called for. That would be Justin Raha and his fabulous, Eurocentric “Grand Finale Cafe“, Rocio Gomez and her spectacular fashionable boutique “Alegria“, Finn and Roxie by adding a touch of cosmopolitan gourmet flair with “Finn’s Chophouse” and last but not least my neighbor “Windermere House” owned and run by the incomparable Claudia Kerr-Bryant and her exquisite taste in design and furniture.
What is your favorite hidden gem in the Village?
I would say that Spring Lake is a hidden gem. We’ve become so much more than just a drive-through town.
Where is your favorite place to spend time in the Village?
In the winter it’s taking a stroll down Savidge Street all the way to the Epicurean square, admiring Sparkle’s colorful light display. In the summer definitely Tanglefoot Park sitting on a bench next to the fire pit, with a social district wine cup, watching the sun go down on the Grand River.
What do you like most about living in the Village of Spring Lake?
All the friendly, supportive villagers of Spring Lake, who make living in our community so enjoyable.

Anything else you’d like to add?
As a German immigrant and only recently naturalized citizen of the USA and resident of Spring Lake, I am extremely grateful for being made to feel so welcome by the people of this lovely village.

Thanks again to Patrik for sharing a little about their Village story!
