This week’s feature is Heather TePastte Baumgartner! Read on to learn more about Heather and why she has made the Village of Spring Lake home.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Heather Baumgartner considers herself a servant leader in the community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a dance specialization from MSU, where she spent four years on the Michigan State Dance Team. She also earned her Master of Arts in coaching and athletics administration from Concordia University Irvine (CUI). She is currently a doctoral candidate (E.d.D) in leadership at CUI. Heather has danced and choreographed professionally with the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Rush. She currently coaches the Spring Lake High School Dance Team, which she started eight years ago, and is also the head coach of the Lake Shore Dance Team, a competitive dance team that combines the dance team programs at Spring Lake and Grand Haven High Schools.
How long have you lived in the Village?
16 years
What brought you to live in the Village?
My parents moved to Spring Lake in 2010, and I instantly fell in love with the village and knew I wanted to move here as well.
What are your hobbies?
My favorite hobby is watching my 17-year-old son compete in sports. I also love ballroom dancing. I compete all over the country in West Coast Swing dancing.
What are your favorite Village businesses and why?
The Village Baker serves the best Margherita Pizza! I also enjoy working with Pak Mail because they are so helpful and friendly.
What is your favorite hidden gem in the Village?
Spring Lake Day Spa
Where is your favorite place to spend time in the Village?
My favorite place is on Spring Lake (on a boat)!
What do you like most about living in the Village of Spring Lake?
I love the amazing outdoor spaces like the bike trail and dog park.
